Prayer

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.  Colossians 4:2

Praying is one of the things I struggle with most; which is silly b/c it is actually an easy thing to do.  You can pray anytime and anywhere so why is it something I don't do?  Why is it something I have found so difficult to turn into a habit?  My family typically prays at dinner time, we have a "Prayer Dice" that we roll to see whose turn it is to pray.  We have the kids follow a simple format having them first address God, then thank him and finally they lift someone up in prayer by asking God to bless that person.  We are good about doing it at dinner, at home, but why don't we pray when we are out?  Why don't we pray at breakfast?  Why don't we pray at lunch?  I don't know why, but I do know that I want it to become habit, so that is what we will focus on this week is praying.  My plan is simple and that is to pray and to pray a lot.  I have decided that we will take the time to pray at meals, even if we are out of the house.  I am also going to pray w/ the boys every time we get out of the car.  I think that will be an easy time to remember to pray-- at least I am hoping.  We will just pray a quick prayer, thanking God, asking him to be with us and blessing someone.  I am hoping that by doing this it will help my children learn to turn to God at all times, and to be thankful for all that He has provided for us, and to lift others up in prayer-- even people we don't know.  Also by doing this I hope that I will be successful in drawing closer to God and to just remember that he is with us always.
